The Thomas Jefferson Institute is a private school (K-12) located in the northwestern part of Mexico City in the State of Mexico, in one of the largest cities in the world! Our Elementary, Middle, and High Schools are housed in a remodeled Ex-Hacienda built over 400 years ago.

The Kindergarten is located nearby in a suburban neighborhood of Mexico City. The school has a total population of 1,850 students, 130 teachers and 70 administrative staff members.
Since 1978, when the school was founded, the Thomas Jefferson Institute has developed into one of the most prestigious schools in the Mexico City Metropolitan area due to its high academic level, English instruction, logical and stable discipline, and strong extra-curricular activities such as our theater program.

Based on the principles of self esteem, respect, and academic excellence, our mission is to develop educated leaders for the 21st Century who can compete, succeed, and be role models in this high tech world while maintaining a commitment to family and moral values, Our school’s principal is a US citizen, born and raised near Quincy, Illinois, who received her BS Degree in Education from Valparaiso University, Valparaiso, Indiana, and a MS Degree from the University of
Massachusetts, Amherst, Massachusetts. The English Director of Elementary School, also a US citizen, received her Bachelors degree in Spanish and Business Administration from  California State University at Fullerton. She then received a degree in Education from Chapman University and a Bilingual Teaching Credential.  After teaching in the state of California for over ten years she moved with her family to Mexico City and has been with Thomas Jefferson Institute for two years.
The English Director of the Middle and High Schools was educated in Europe and the United States. She moved from Denmark to Mexico over 30 years ago. She has 20 years of teaching and administrative experience and is certified in Mexico to teach at the university level.

In addition to our solid academic program the students also receive courses in art and technology, participate in cultural activities, and enjoy various extra curricular activities. We believe that a well-rounded individual will be better prepared for the rapidly changing future, and will enter the world as a self-motivated inquisitor of life-long learning.

Hopefully we can "open the eyes and the hearts of our students to want to accept and understand new ways of thinking becoming truly bicultural and community members of the entire world".
