At Instituto Thomas Jefferson Campus Guadalajara – Valle Real, we know that each student is unique in terms of their abilities and talents, so we seek to develop them in a personalized way to provide them with a successful future.

Project-based learning is an educational strategy that allows students to become active members in the research and solution of problems. The objective is to find answers and solutions through teamwork while at the same time providing space for students to reason, think critically, utilize multiple sources and resources; within that process, students also are simultaneously working to better their skills for oral and written expression.

Our Readers/Writers methodology stems from the actual, current reading levels of each student. Reading levels are obtained through individual evaluations and is based on personal progress that students show throughout the school year.
Teachers stimulate effective reading and writing habits by using a variety of resources and strategies that are adequate for their age level and are designed and proven through rigorous academic research.

READERS AND WRITERS

Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, Mathematics and Sustainability (STEAMS) is a learning model that combines all of these areas of study into one over-arching project or learning plan that allows students to learn through practice and teamwork. The main advantage of this model is that students are better able to develop their skills and competencies through study, practice, and hands-on projects.

Through this program, Instituto Thomas Jefferson Guadalajara Palomar supports gifted, high-achieving students and transform their interests into talents. The main objective of this program is to develop thinking structures and abilities that will allow students to put their natural potential into action as citizens of the future.

GIFTED AND TALENTED

TJMUN is a program that allows students to simulate the discussions and works of the United Nations. Students debate recurring themes and real-life problems that have a world-wide impact. In this simulation, students assume the roles of delegates of the United Nations (UN), and while representing a country and the respective posture that country may have toward a certain topic and idea.

This project gives students the chance to learn about the world and its many problems, and to remain informed and aware of what is going on in our country and the world.

The Buddy Exchange Program is a study abroad program that offers students at Instituto Thomas Jefferson the chance to experience life in different parts of the world such as: England, Spain, the United Arab Emirates, United States, Malaysia, Qatar, Costa Rica, and Mexico.

This exchange program provides our students with the enriching, international opportunity to know and live abroad, strengthening the sense of globalism, friendship, and companionship.

Bilingual Classes

Our school is 100% bilingual and multicultural. Classes are presented 80% content in English and 20% content in Spanish.

Incorporated into SEP and international plan

Instituto Thomas Jefferson fulfills the required program by SEP (Secretaría de Educación Pública) and with an internationally aligned Common Core and AERO Standards.

Our school’s installations facilitate students’ work and independent learning by providing various social environments. Our academic classes are modern, technology-oriented, and dynamic.

Double certification

ITJ students graduate with both a SEP diploma and an International High School Diploma which is valid in the United States and world-wide. Individualization, personalization, and vocational orientation characterize Instituto Thomas Jefferson and provide a process wich allows our graduates to enter universities in Italy, Canada, Argentina, Norway and the United States, as well as other public and private prestigious national institutions.

Extracurricular classes

We have an extracurricular classes program in which parents and students can join together in a classroom and participate as a family in activities such as percussions, soccer, drawing, athletics, tennis, jazz, flamenco, gymnastics, among others.

I would like to welcome you to Instituto Thomas Jefferson Valle Real on behalf of our wonderful team of staff, students and parents.

ITJ Valle Real was founded on the principle of student centered learning and is a place in which students can discover their talents, develop their potential and excel in a happy and safe environment, through the execution of our mission statement and our core values of Respect, Self-Esteem and Excellence.

I am privileged to work with an amazing group of highly capable and dedicated collaborators, all focused on preparing our students for a world that is changing exponentially. Our aim is to partner with parents to develop lifelong learners who are creative and critical thinkers, effective communicators and who collaborate to create a positive impact in their community, their country and the world.

As part of the International Schools Partnership (ISP), our students have access to amazing international learning opportunities across the globe giving them a better understanding of what it means to be a global citizen in today’s world.

Our graduates have followed their passions and we are very proud of their amazing accomplishments as they gain acceptance to their University of choice, both nationally and internationally.
