Olivia Magaña, Assistant Middle School
At ITJ Palomar Middle School, we understand that these years are a bridge between childhood and the responsibilities of High School. This is a stage where students begin to ask bigger questions, test their independence, and discover their own talents. Our mission is to guide them through this important moment with the right balance of structure, support, and opportunity. Academically, Middle School prepares students to face the challenges of High School with confidence. Our program strengthens their skills in English and Spanish, develops a solid base in mathematics and science, and nurtures curiosity through humanities and project-based learning. By practicing teamwork, problem solving, and critical thinking, students begin to understand how what they learn connects to the world around them. These experiences give them the study habits and academic discipline that will be essential for success in the years ahead. But Middle School is not only about academics. It is also about character. During these years, students learn to take greater responsibility for their actions and to understand the impact they have on their classmates, their school, and their community. We place special emphasis on developing executive functions—such as organization, planning, self-control, and goal setting—so that students become more independent and capable of managing their own learning. At the same time, travel opportunities allow them to step out of their routine, gain new perspectives, and learn from experiences that go beyond the classroom. Both aspects help our students grow as confident and responsible young people. Because we are an international school, we also help students see themselves as part of a wider world. Exposure to different cultures, languages, and perspectives allows them to think beyond their immediate environment. They start to understand that their choices and actions connect to something larger, and that they have the ability to contribute positively wherever they go. Our Middle School teachers play a central role in this journey. They know that every student is unique, with different strengths and different ways of learning. By working closely with students and families, they provide guidance that is both academic and personal. This close support helps students build confidence and discover new interests, while also preparing them step by step for the expectations of High School.
At ITJ Palomar, we offer flexible enrollment for our Middle School throughout the academic year. Our admissions team is here to discuss your needs and guide you to select the right start date for your child.
Excel through a challenging curriculum and outstanding support, preparing confidently for future success.
