With great pride and joy, we want to share the formal launch of our new anti-bullying program, KIVA. This program originated in Finland and is part of the Finnish curriculum, a pioneering and leading country in education. KIVA is a Finnish compound word meaning: KI (Kiusaamista) - Bullying, VA (Vastainen) - Against. That's why we held our first KIVA DAY on January 26th, with the participation of ALL our beloved students, from Nursery to High School. Imagine more than 950 ITJ students, all working together on a special day! They came dressed in the logo's colors to make the experience even more fun.Our students carried out a series of activities where we reflected on school coexistence, empathy, and differences. We paused to reflect on what bullying is and generated various proposals, which they then displayed on posters. On these posters, they shared their ideas for being part of the solution to this social phenomenon that is present worldwide today. The work and reflection of each of our students emphasized the need to get to know one another from an empathetic perspective. Our lower elementary students creatively made a "dove of peace," which they waved at the end of our activities, alluding to that call for peace and kindness in the world. The ribbon-cutting ceremony was led by our principals, Sara Yeo and Mónica Montalvo, who highlighted the importance of having such an innovative program in our school and invited our community to be part of the change in the fight against bullying. Ms. Lety Lerma and Ms. Paulina Bustos displayed the vests we will wear during our shifts, so that anyone needing adult support can quickly identify them."It was definitely a very special day..." - Carlo."We got to know our classmates better with one of the activities, and I was very surprised to learn something I didn't know about them..." - Alan.Without a doubt, it was a great day for our beloved community. In summary, this event was a valuable platform for continuing to incorporate amazing learning experiences among our beloved students, committed to creating a safe environment where they feel happy and understand the importance of inclusion.
