Motivational talk by Chris Bertish

22-04-2024

We started the year with an inspiring talk by Chris Bertish, South African surfer, Mavericks champion, and Guinness world record holder, sharing “Achieve The Impossible–The Mavericks Story"

Since our opening in 2002, talks and conferences led by experts in various fields have been an essential part of the learning we offer our students and community. Many talented individuals from around the world have visited us at the ITJ Campus Palomar to share the most valuable aspects of their stories and experiences, and Chris Bertish was no exception.

In January of this year, we opened our doors to hear a story brought from the Atlantic Ocean: “Achieve The Impossible – The Mavericks Big Wave Story”. We gathered our parents, teachers, and students to listen to the incredible adventure of Chris Bertish, a South African surfer, international speaker, Big wave surfing mavericks champion, and holder of the Guinness World Record for Stand-Up Paddleboarding. Chris shared with us what it was like to cross the Atlantic Ocean by paddling for 93 days, but most importantly, he spoke to us about his mental preparation to achieve goals that seem impossible, but with discipline, training, and confidence, they can become achievable possibilities. Because in every “impossible,” there is an “im-possible” if you believe it.

Talks of value like this are important to us at ITJ Campus Palomar, as they align with our belief that learning exists in all experiences, and we must explore the world to become successful, creative, and environmentally conscious leaders.
