An unforgettable journey: ISP MUN Malaysia

29-01-2025

Four talented secondary students travelled to Malaysia to join the renowned International Schools Partnership (ISP) Model United Nations (MUN) conference.

In November 2024, four talented secondary students from Instituto Thomas Jefferson Campus Valle Real – Isabella, Renata, Ximena and Margarita – travelled to Malaysia with 19 other students from the LATAM region to join the renowned International Schools Partnership (ISP) Model United Nations (MUN) conference. Each participant represented a country and took on the role of diplomat in simulated debates and international negotiations.

Our students represented:
– Isabella: Chile
– Renata: Colombia
– Ximena: Namibia
– Margarita: Botswana

They were accompanied by two exceptional chaperones: Deborah Revolorio, Director of Student Futures LATAM, and Megan Randall, Learning Coordinator at ITJ Valle Real and Regional ILOS Coordinator for MexCCA.

During the conference, our students connected with young people from around the world and put the ISP Five Life Competencies into action: communication, critical thinking, global citizenship, collaboration and personal leadership.

The LATAM team stood out not only in diplomacy, debate and teamwork, but also earned nine awards, including the Life Competencies Award presented to Renata from Valle Real for her outstanding performance in these key skills.

Deborah Revolorio shared: “The ISP Model United Nations was much more than an event – it was a transformative experience that helped students find their voice, build lasting friendships and take meaningful steps to make the world a better place.”

Returning home, our students came back inspired and ready to make a difference, both locally and globally. The farewell was filled with excitement, smiles and the promise of new collaborations.

Congratulations to Isabella, Renata, Ximena, Margarita and the rest of the team – wishing you every success in your future projects!
